Virtual Desktop environment
| Virtual Desktop environment |
| Summary | A method to extend the traditional PC environment through centralisation |
|
| Description |
A Virtual Desktop environment enables a local PC or thin client to deliver high quality computing services through the centralisation of services. In this type of environment it is possible to run software, such as operating systems (eg Vista, XP etc) and all of the subservient applications from a centralised location using networking and an interface at the client terminal ( PC, thin client etc). This approach delivers high functionality as it enables the end-user to be able to run their personal applications, such as Word, email etc at any terminal that can access the centralised delivery system. Furthermore it allows tight control of software licencing and usage, improvements in the delivery of support services and the capabiliy to reduce IT delivery costs. |
