Moores Law
| Moores Law |
| Summary | Trusim of the IT Industry |
|
| Description |
Moore's Law has become a basic rule of thumb accepted within the IT industry. More of an observation than a 'law', as in a law of physics, it predicts that the number of transistors in a given area of silicon will double every 18-24 months and so the power/performance ratios will also double. The prediction was first noted by Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore in a paper in 1965. Although over time the general principle of Moore's law has remained true, it is possible more of a function of technological advancement and cost management rather than any underlying principle. |
