HAC

HAC
Summary

Hot Aisle Containment

Description

HAC is the process of containing the heat generated by an aisle of racks into a confined space.

This enables all of the heat exhausted from the equipment to be funnelled directly at the target cooling system to obtain maximum efficiency from the cooling systems’ unit(s).

HAC has the effect of raising the intake temperature of the cooling system and as such creating a higher delta T for the cooling system to maintain.

Implementation of an HAC environment requires that the aisle is encapsulated by a barrier up to the ceiling and roof panels and containment doors at end of the aisle. HAC may require the installation of inline cooling systems between the racks.
