Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG protocol)

The most widely used formalised internationally standard for reporting GHG emissions.

Agreed and developed by the World Business Council for sustainable Development and the World Resources Institute the protocol enables coverage of emissions reporting both at a corporate and project level.

At a corporate level the protocol includes a standard methodology for the calculation of the carbon footprint and an accounting framework for nearly every GHG standard and program in the world, from the International Standards Organization to The Climate Registry as well as hundreds of GHG inventories prepared by individual companies.
