| EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres Energy Efficiency |
| Summary | EU best practice guidelines on data centre energy efficiency |
|
| Description |
The EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres Energy Efficiency was authored by the Joint Research Council of the EU. Version 1.0 was released in October 2008 and represents the initial phase of driving best management practices and standardisation into data centre design and usage. The objectives of this approach are to gain control over the potential increase in energy demand and consumption projected for the EU. In addition this has the twin benefit of aiding the limitation of carbon management emissions as they are directly related to the use of energy. The code of conduct provides a framework of best practice that addresses the core network-critical physical infrastructure necessary for the operation of the data centre. It also extends to cover the IT equipment, management practices and operational procedures. By encompassing all aspects of the data in this way it is possible to take c complete holistic approach to the management of energy for a company's IT delivered services. |
