Cloud Computing is an emerging technology model based that can be used to solve IT provisioning problems for business.

With the exploitation of fast communications, virtualisation and automation technologies, the internet may now be suitable for many companies to base their computing infrastructure on. However, the scope of applications may be limited as the internet is unable to deliver the same level of security, performance and availability that most Enterprise-class IT operations deliver today.

Consequently the Cloud is more likely to find take up in smaller companies looking to keep costs low, or for one-off applications in large companies that can exploit the low cost entry costs and do not require 24*7 high performance and security guaranteed computing.
