BRE Environmental Assessment Method

BREEAM is allegedly the most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings throughout the world.

The assessment works by comparing buildings against a set pre-defined best practices criteria to establish an overall assessment rating. The rating will fall within one of the available bands of: PASS, GOOD, VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT and OUTSTANDING.

Assessments with high rating values are now being mandated through regulation for many building types and across all industries.

As a specialist building environment, the BREEAM rating scheme has been extended to cover Data Centres covering how facilities have been designed, constructed and implemented for IT and communications equipment.

It is expected that the environmental impact of the data management processes will also be encompassed within the assessment method.
