Best Practices of the EU Code of Conduct
What are the Best Practices?
To enable Participants to drive forward programmes of energy efficiency improvement the EU has developed a set of best practice guidelines (Guide). The Guide draws upon the experience and expertise of a wide range of Data Centre professionals, operators, vendors, consultants, academics and industry and national bodies.
As such the Guide is a very high value set of proven practices that enhance energy efficiency.
Quantity and Quality
Covering all aspects of Data Centre Infrastructure, including, all of the hardware and software components, planning, monitoring, reporting and all other management disciplines and processes, the Guide consists of over 100 unique points of guidance.
Quality is enhanced through the adoption of a standard set of terminology. As with other IT management initiatives, such as ITIL, the use of common terminology contributes immensly to the increased acceptance, training and cross-fertilisation of ideas between Data Centres and Code adoptees. The use of accepted terminology can also be applied in the procurement process by Participants, which will force Vendors to provide increased clarity in their solution definitions, especially where energy efficiency is involved.
As a best practice practitioner and Endorser of the Code, Dimension 85 embraces and recommends the Guidelines as an effective set of methods for improving energy efficiency. Managing the implementation of the Guide's best practices is achieveable using the Assessor consulting solution.
